The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
