The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
