The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
