Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
