The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
