The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
