'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
