Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
