The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And the Book written 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 No one can avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
