Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief). 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof. 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! 43 If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud." 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 36]. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
True are the words of God the Almighty.
