The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
