Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Dawn, 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 and by the passing night, 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 And with Pharaoh of the tent pegs 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And comes your Lord, and angels row on row, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Join My servants. 29 And enter into My garden. 30
