The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
