The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
