And We have not created the heaven and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses. 31 Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said): 32 "Bring them back to me!" -- [he said] and began to stroke their legs and their necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said: “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom such as none other after me will deserve. Surely You are the Bounteous Giver.” 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 'This is Our gift, give or withhold without reckoning' 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
