And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
