She said, “O chieftains, advise me in this matter of mine; I do not give a final decision until you are present with me.” 32 They replied: 'We are possessors of force and great might. It is for you to command, so consider what you will' 33 She said, "When Kings enter a town they destroy it and disrespect its honorable people. That is what they will do, too. 34 "But I am going to send him a present, and (wait) to see with what (answer) return (my) ambassadors." 35 Now, when (the envoy of the Queen) came to Solomon, he said: "Do you want to aid me with wealth? Whatever Allah has granted me is much more than what He has given you. (Keep for yourselves) your gift in which you are exulting. 36 "Go thou back unto them [that have sent thee]! For, [God says:] 'We shall most certainly come upon them with forces which they will never be able to withstand, and shall most certainly cause them to be driven from that [land of theirs,] despicable and humbled!'" 37 He said: O chiefs! Which of you will bring me her throne before they come unto me, surrendering? 38 An efreet of the jinns said, 'I will bring it to thee, before thou risest from thy place; I have strength for it 39 The one who had knowledge from the Book said, "I can bring it to you before you even blink your eye." When Solomon saw the throne placed before him, he said, "This is a favor from my Lord by which He wants to test whether I am grateful or ungrateful. Whoever thanks God does so for his own good. Whoever is ungrateful to God should know that my Lord is Self-Sufficient and Benevolent." 40 He said: disguise for her her throne, that we may see whether she be guided or be of those who are not guided. 41 So, when she came, it was said (unto her): Is thy throne like this? She said: (It is) as though it were the very one. And (Solomon said): We were given the knowledge before her and we had surrendered (to Allah). 42 And he diverted her from the worship of others besides Allah: for she was (sprung) of a people that had no faith. 43 It was said unto her: Enter the hall. And when she saw it she deemed it a pool and bared her legs. (Solomon) said: Lo! it is a hall, made smooth, of glass. She said: My Lord! Lo! I have wronged myself, and I surrender with Solomon unto Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. 44
