The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
