And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 We shall revenge them either after your death 41 or show them to you suffering the torment with which We had threatened them. We are certainly dominant over them all. 42 Hold thou fast wherefore to that which is revealed unto thee: verily thou art on the straight path. 43 And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
