The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
