And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
