The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
