Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
