The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
