And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
