The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
