The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
