Said he to the Council about him, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 34 He would drive you out of your land through his magic; what then is it ye command? 35 They said: "Put him and his brother off awhile, and send summoners to the cities to gather 36 to mobilise all skilled magicians." 37 So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day, 38 And it was said unto the people: Are ye (also) gathering? 39 "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?" 40 "When the magicians came, they asked the Pharaoh, "Will there be any reward for us if we win?" 41 He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)." 42 Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!" 43 So they cast their ropes and rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall be victorious." 44 Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they showed! 45 And the magicians were thrown down prostrate; 46 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 47 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed him before I gave you leave. Why, he is the chief of you, the same that taught you sorcery; now you shall know! I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 49 They said: "There will be no harm. We shall return to our Lord. 50 “We hope that our Lord will forgive us our mistakes, as we are the first to believe.” 51
