Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) -- 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Destroyed We not the ancients? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 Which We placed in a depository safe. 21 until an appointed time? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is the Day they shall not speak, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
