He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
