The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
