The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
