The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
