The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
