He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
