Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
