A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. 10
