Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 it is a warning to man, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
