Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih (Saleh) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend." 152 They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
