The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 and restraining [from evil] by a call to restraint, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Verily your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the planets, 6 and to preserve against every rebel Satan; 7 so they cannot listen to the High Assembly, for they are pelted from every side. 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame. 10 Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay. 11 Nay! you wonder while they mock, 12 And they do not understand, when explained to. 13 And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing. 14 and they say, 'This is nothing but manifest sorcery. 15 "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) 16 Will our forefathers also be brought to life again?" 17 Say (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low. 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 They will say, "Woe to us! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
