The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
