Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 Therein every wise affair is made distinct, 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things); 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 Covering the people; this is a painful torment. 11 Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us – we now accept faith.” 12 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 The day when We will seize with the greatest seizure – We will indeed take revenge. 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me. 20 "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains they left behind them, 25 and fields of grain, and noble dwellings, 26 and what prosperity they had rejoiced in! 27 We gave these as an inheritance to other people. 28 Neither did the heavens weep for them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite. 29
