Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
