And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
