The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and gently take it away; 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
