The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
