The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
