Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
