The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
