The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 “What! Of all the men among us, the remembrance has come down upon him? In fact, he is a mischievous, great liar.” 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
